In advance of this week’s winter storm , the United Houma Nation (UHN) staff members attempted to reach over 400 UHN tribal elders by phone to determine if they had a warm and safe place to stay. Our staff members were able to speak to, or leave a voicemail for, most of the Tribal elders on our list, however, some phone numbers they called did not have voicemail set up, or their voicemail inboxes were full. In addition, some phone numbers were no longer in service or may have had a block which prevented incoming calls from an unrecognized phone number. Our staff made the calls from their homes using their personal phones since the Tribal offices were closed.
If you are an enrolled UHN citizen who is over the age of 66 and you did not receive a call or voicemail from a UHN staff member on January 20th or 21st, please contact our Enrollment Office to verify that we have your correct contact information. It is vital that we have up to date information for all of our enrolled citizens so that we can reach you during emergency situations or for other important updates.
