
The Runoff Election for Principal Chief of the United Houma Nation (UHN) is scheduled for Saturday, September 5, 2026. The UHN Election Board has certified Lora Ann Chaisson (incumbent) and Adam Crappel as the two candidates moving forward in the runoff election.
VOTER REGISTRATION
To vote in this runoff election, tribal citizens MUST have been registered by the May 6, 2026 voter deadline advertised in the June election. No new open voter registration period is allowed as per the Emergency Ordinance.
ABSENTEE BALLOTS
Eligible registered voters who cannot vote on Election Day, or who choose to vote absentee must do so Thursday, July 30, 2026 through Monday, August 31, 2026.
Absentee voting can take place in one of two ways:
- Eligible voters appear in person at the UHN Administrative Office, located temporarily at 187 Corporate Drive in Houma, Monday through Friday between 8:30am and 4:00pm with a photo ID and cast their vote through the absentee process.
- Eligible voters unable to appear at the office must submit a written request with an original signature to the UHN Administrative Office, 187 Corporate Drive, Houma, LA 70360 to request a mailed absentee ballot. All cast ballots must be received at the UHN Houma Office by 4:00 pm, Monday, August 31, 2026 to be counted.
