Electric Bill Assistance Available to Eligible UHN Citizens; Apply by September 13, 2024

The United Houma Nation has received funds to provide a one-time electric bill payment for eligible tribal households! Enrolled tribal citizens who live within the UHN’s six-parish service area can apply for a one-time, need-based electric bill payment through the Tribal Office in Houma. Priority will be given to tribal elders and low-income families. The UHN will make payments of $150.00 directly to the appropriate Electric Companies per eligible, selected household. After all applications are reviewed, selected applicants will be contacted by the Tribal Office. The deadline to apply is Friday, September 13, 2024 at 11:59pm.

ELIGIBILITY DETERMINATION DOCUMENTATION REQUIREMENTS
– UHN Tribal Citizen (must provide Tribal Enrollment Number)
– Proof of All Income for everyone in the household
– Valid Driver’s License for everyone 18+ in the household
– Electric Bill within the last 30 days (cannot be disconnected or delinquent; current bill cannot have credit; bill must have applicant name and service location)
– Proof of Residency using a bill other than electric bill if ID or drivers license does not have current address
