At the United Houma Nation (UHN) Tribal Council Meeting held on Saturday, May 9, 2026, the Tribal Council appointed UHN citizen Philip Bourgeois of St. Mary Parish to fill the District 1 Tribal Council seat recently vacated by Adam Crappel, who is currently running for Principal Chief. Mr. Bourgeois was sworn in as Tribal Councilmember by UHN Election Board member Robin Brunet. He retired from the St. Mary Parish Sheriff’s Office in 2025 after service as a deputy for 41 years.
