UHN ELECTION BOARD NOTICE
On February 17, 2025, the United Houma Nation Election Board met and reviewed applications for candidates seeking the offices of Tribal Council. The following candidates were found eligible for candidacy for UHN Tribal Council:
District 6 – Kevin Billiot, Tamika Champagne, Kristy Cobb and Sondra Corbitt, all of Houma. The election for this seat takes place on Saturday, April 19, 2025. (scroll down for photos of candidates)
District 6 polling location is:
United Houma Nation
400 Monarch Drive
Houma LA 70364
This polling location will be open 6:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. on the day of the election.
District 9 – Kailyn Creppel of Kenner (unopposed)
District 10 – Chad Billiot of Galliano (unopposed)
Important Election Deadlines:
MARCH 17, 2025
Absentee ballots are made available upon request at the UHN Houma Office (400 Monarch Drive). Absentee ballots are only available either by written request or in person at the UHN Houma Office. Verification of voter is required through signature.
MARCH 19, 2025
Deadline for tribal members to register to vote in this election. A tribal members not registered to vote by this date will be ineligible to vote in the election. (Voter registration will continue after this date for future elections.)
APRIL 8, 2025
Polling places and sample ballots will be posted at Tribal offices.
APRIL 11, 2025
All absentee ballots must be received at the UHN Main Office by this date no later than 5:00 p.m. Central Time. A ballot received after such date and time will not be counted in the election.
APRIL 19, 2025
Election Day
VOTING ON ELECTION DAY
Eligible voters participating on election day must do so at their designated polling place. The Board will mail a notice to all registered voters of their designated polling place. All polling places shall be open from 6:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. on the day of the election. All voters must show their Tribal photo ID or other valid photo identification (driver’s license or state issued ID) and sign a Tribal register voter log in order to vote at the polls. All voting is by secret ballot.
