The United Houma Nation currently has one (1) vacant employment position.  The announcement has been extended until end of the day Friday, March 8, 2024 or until filled.

EMPLOYMENT POSITION:

EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT DIRECTOR:

This is a key management position responsible for effective development, implementation and administration of the United Houma Nation (UHN) Tribal Emergency Management Plan. Provides for management direction and accountability ensuring efficiency of operations, effective administration and quality service delivery, inclusive of partnering with entities of local, state and federal disaster and emergency management systems. Coordinates and implements emergency management programs, projects, activities, and response plans for natural and man-made catastrophic incidents that could threaten the safety and welfare of the residents of the UHN’s six-parish service areas: Terrebonne, Lafourche, St. Mary, St Bernard, Jefferson and Plaquemines. Responsible to assist administration with FEMA public assistance claims, preparedness, response and recovery capabilities. Advises to the UHN and other local and state partners on matters pertaining to catastrophic emergency incidents. The purpose of emergency management is to preserve the safety and welfare of all life, property and environment as practical.

Position requires hands-on direction and leadership pre, during, and post emergency incidents.

Desired Qualifications: 

  1. A) Preferred Bachelor’s Degree or Certification in Emergency Management and at least five years supervisory employment experience as an Emergency Manager, with National Incident Management (NIMS) training and Incident Command System (ICS) certification.
  2. B) MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Industrial Safety, Natural Resources supervisory and/or significant prior direct administrative experience in overseeing emergency operations.

Position is full-time based in Houma, Louisiana.  Position requires travel.  Salary range is $60,000 – $78,000 and will be dependent upon experience.
