Community Engagement Assistant – Primary duties will be coordinating between staff and tribal leaders with managing social media, online newsletter, group texting, etc., assisting with community event planning with particular focus on coastal and climate impacts to the tribal communities, manage a schedule of tribal community events and activities, provide regular reports to the UHN Media Committee as well as assist with coordinating media relations and planning with the committee. A degree in communications or related field is preferred; however, years of direct work experience will be considered in lieu of a degree. Position is full-time with starting pay $12.45/hour. Funding is dependent on grant funding.
Case Manager/Community Health Worker – Primary duties will be to conduct intake of hurricane impacted families to determine unmet needs, identify resources and assist with connecting with available assistance both within the UHN and outside; assist UHN Administration with processing requests for assistance and verifying case status of applicants; effectively communicate with tribal citizens about hurricane relief services available and eligibility for services; maintain records and track applicant progress. An interest in the health and welfare of the community is a must. There are two (2) positions being hired that will transition from purely transition Case Managers to Community Health Workers after completing additional training to be provided within the first 2 months of employment. After training, primary duties will also include providing social support and interventional health counseling as needed, connecting uninsured or underinsured tribal citizens to mental health, medical care, and social services needed, teaching basic health education, such as hygiene best practices and disease prevention, help individuals interpret health information, perform data entry into a database, and collect and report data as required. A bachelor’s degree in public health, health education, or a related field is preferred and previous work experience working in Case Management is encouraged. This position most significantly requires individuals who have friendly, compassionate, and empathetic personalities with a desire to help others. Position is full-time with starting pay $17/hour. Funding is dependent on grant funding initially.
