LORA ANN CHAISSON

It is with great honor I announce my candidacy for re-election as Principal Chief of the United Houma Nation. I am seeking the opportunity to continue moving the United Houma Nation forward while building on the progress we have made together.
During the last four years, our administration has focused on strengthening our proud Nation, honoring our culture, and expanding our presence at the local, national, and international levels. (Read full campaign statement)
ADAM CRAPPEL

My focus is getting the United Houma Nation federally recognized–by act of Congress, through the BIA, or a federal court decision. Federal recognition is key to helping the tribe protect its culture, lands, and citizens. I also want to create economic opportunities for tribal citizens and have experience building a business. My company was named one of Inc. 5000’s fastest growing companies. I will use my business experience to help create Houma businesses, like many other tribes have done.
MARYAL DION MEWHERTER

I am committed to leading with strength, transparency, and integrity. I am also dedicated to fostering growth and long-term sustainability through responsible and resilient economic development. By working in unity and collaboration with the Tribal Council, I will strive to ensure strong representation and meaningful engagement across our communities.
I believe in maintaining open and honest communication with community members and stakeholders, recognizing that trust and connection are essential to lasting progress. I remain steadfast in advancing efforts toward federal recognition at every legal and congressional level available.
Above all, I am devoted to honoring the past while building a stronger future, preserving the traditions and culture that define our community for generations to come.
